A Colourful Birthday Card (Flowers Fair)

by Kylie

Hi everyone! Today I’m sharing a bright and cheerful floral birthday card that was a lot of fun to create. It was super easy too! The moment I saw the Flowers Fair stamp from Stampin’ Up!®, I immediately thought it would be perfect for colouring. Of course, you know it went straight into my shopping cart! As soon as I received it, I had to ink it up and voila! Here’s the first card I created with it.

Keeping Things Simple

The Flowers Fair stamp set is a large background stamp set that covers an entire card base. I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with Copic Markers. The colours I used are:

  • Stems / Leaves – YG17 / YG23 / YG11
  • Orange Flowers – YR16 / YR14 / YR00
  • Pink Flowers – RV55 / RV52 / RV000
  • Purple Flowers – V06 / V04 / V01 with Y02 / Y08

After colouring the stamped image, I cut it to size, mounted it flat to a piece of black cardstock, and then mounted this panel (with Foam Adhesive) to a white card base. The sentiment was from the Desertscape stamp set by Concord and 9th. I was after a really simple font and thought this was a good option. It was stamped in Black Onyx Versafine ink on white cardstock and then matted on black cardstock. I finished off the card with some rhinestones, and some Wink of Stella on the petals. Simple, and done!

Here’s the card…

One of the things I love most about this design is how versatile it is. By simply changing the colours or the sentiment used, you could easily create a card for many different occasions. It’s a great reminder you don’t always need a new stamp set or layout to create for different people or occasions. I am definitely going to be making a lot of cards using this stamp set!

Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
