Hi everyone! If you love creating scenes as much as I do, you probably know all about Lawn Fawn and their super-cute critters. These little characters are perfect for creating fun scenes for all occasions. I recently purchased the Silly Goose stamps and dies, and they were the perfect choice for making a selection of birthday cards.
One thing I have been doing a lot lately (well, I have always done this) is creating what I call “same but different” cards. I love this approach. It is when I make several cards at once that are essentially the same design, but I change up something small, such as the colour palette or sentiment. Just a little difference. That’s how I ended up with the four cards I am sharing today. They’re all pretty much the same, but each has its own little twist.
Where to start?
For the cards I am sharing today, I started by stamping all the images in the set and arranging them on a smaller focal panel. Sometimes I find it easier to work with tiny critters on a smaller canvas rather than trying to fill an entire card front.
Once I had a rough idea of the layout, I got to colouring. I used Lawn Fawn’s Merman ink for the sky and Freshly Cut Grass for the grass. The Grassy Hillside Stencils helped create the grassy background.
All of the geese and elements were coloured with Copic Markers, except on the two cards with the rainbow-striped paper. For those cards, I wanted something a little brighter and more festive. Truthfully, I was feeling too lazy to colour-match my Copic Markers to the patterned paper, so I decided to paper-piece some of the elements instead. In hindsight, all that fiddly, fussy cutting probably took just as long, especially since I ended up using markers in a few places anyway! Nevertheless, I do like the finished look.
Here’s the card…
Here are the other cards…

These were so much fun to make that I ended up creating a couple more designs as well.
Do you like making variations of the same card design so you can experiment with different options, or do you prefer to make one card and then move on to something completely different?
Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
