When Flowers Just Won’t Do – A Capybara Birthday Card (Capybaras! / Lawn Fawn)

by Kylie

Hi everyone! It was my Mum’s 80th birthday earlier this month, and I wanted to make a card she’d like. A few years ago, we were discussing the cards I had been making, and she mentioned she was a bit over seeing so many floral cards (in a nice way, haha). Ever since then, I have avoided using floral images for her cards. For this birthday card, I thought some cute critters from Lawn Fawn would be a great option instead, especially when paired with the Cake It Easy stamp set. Last year, I used the Capybaras! stamp set to make Al’s Mum’s 80th birthday card, and I thought I could do something similar for my Mum.

The card was quite simple to make, but it did take me a while. There’s a lot of stamping, colouring, inking, and die-cutting. I think it was worth the effort, though. I did forget one thing, which I only realised when I was adhering everything together at the end. I forgot a sentiment! I did think about leaving it off, as the “80” candles indicated what it was, but I just couldn’t do it. I ended up going with a simple “Capy Birthday”, and tucked it into the top right-hand corner. It finished the card off perfectly.

Here’s the card…

Mum hasn’t received the card yet, but I feel confident she is going to love it…and just quietly, I love it too!

Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
