Hi everyone! Have you ever seen a card that you cannot stop thinking about? I recently saw cards made by Mona Toth, and they blew me away with her colour choices. I immediately went through my ink collection to determine if I had the same colours, and then ordered the ones I was missing, as I so wanted to try it for myself. Truthfully, I also tried to find the stamps she had used, but none of the Australian suppliers I could find was stocking them at the time. I love the rainbow look of her cards and just had to try it for myself.
Creating a Floral Rainbow
For my version, I used Altenew’s Build-A-Garden: Happy Blossoms set. I stamped the main floral image a couple of times, then die cut the images before colouring them with Catherine Pooler inks: Pucker Up, Limoncello, and Cummerbund for the petals. For the leaves, I used a combination of Distress Inks: Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers. I had never thought about combining those colours for leaves, and I am a new fan! I love how bright and cheerful this card looks with the rainbow of colours.
For my card base, I wanted to add something with a bit more interest, so I used the Waffle Flower Happy Circles Texture die. It is subtle and doesn’t detract from the flowers. I love it! The flowers were popped up on the card base with foam adhesive, which adds even more dimension.
The sentiment, also from Altenew’s Build-A-Garden: Happy Blossoms set, was stamped with Versamark on black cardstock. It was white heat-embossed before being die cut. The final touch was, of course, Wink of Stella on the petals. So pretty!

Here’s a closer look…

I have to say, I had such fun with this technique. I want to make a million more cards with these inks. Mona also created some cards with a more pastel look, and I cannot wait to try those colours too. I also want to remake this card as I have a few more ideas I would like to try, so watch this space…
Have you ever been inspired by another cardmaker’s colour choices and just had to try them for yourself?
Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
