May All Your Holiday Dreams Come True (Christmas Dreams / Lawn Fawn)

by Kylie

Hi everyone! Have you all started making your Christmas cards? By this time of year, I usually start to think about what I want to make, and I might even have purchased the products, but I haven’t actually made any cards yet. This year, I need to make quite a few more than normal, so I had to get a head start.

I wasn’t sure where to begin, so I dug into my stash and found the cute Christmas Dreams stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I don’t think I have used this stamp set since I first bought it when it was released. It was definitely time to change that.

The biggest problem with this set was that I didn’t buy the coordinating die set. Years ago, I went through a phase where I thought I didn’t need the dies and could buy more stamps without them. I guess that is true, but it is sooooo much easier when you have the die set. You won’t be surprised to know that the coordinating dies are now on order, and I should have them in a week or so. Phew!

Since I wanted to make a few cards with the same or a similar design, I didn’t want the designs to be too detailed, especially since I had to fussy-cut all the elements as well. I decided to create a cute scene with the dog sleeping under the Christmas tree, dreaming of a bone. I also coloured the dog to look a little like my Lexi (my black-and-white Border Collie). I cannot help myself!

After colouring a few dogs, it crossed my mind that some people are more cat people, so I should create a few cards for them too. I substituted the cat for the dog and the fish for the bone. So cute!

Most of the elements were coloured with Copic Markers, but for the rug, I wanted it to have a little more interest. I stamped the rug design onto patterned paper and then added some additional shading with Copic Markers. The patterned paper I used for the Merry Christmas sentiment and the rug came from an old Lawn Fawn paper pack called Snow Day. I don’t believe this paper pack is available any more, which is such a shame. The background paper is from an old Stampin’ Up!® paper pack, but I no longer remember the name.

Here are the cards…

Even with all the fussy cutting, I did enjoy making these cards, and I am glad I made the cats as well as the dogs. I am also super glad I ordered the coordinating dies, as I would love to make some more cards using this awesome stamp set.

Tell me, have you ever thought the same as me? If you don’t buy the dies, you can buy more stamps?

Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
