Using What’s on Your Desk to Make Multiple Handmade Cards

by Kylie

Hi everyone, sometimes the easiest way to keep creating is to use what’s already on your desk. This card was made using supplies I had on my craft desk from previous projects. Instead of packing everything away and starting fresh, I decided to keep going and see what else I could make with the same materials. Working this way helped me keep my momentum, especially when my mojo still feels a bit elusive.

Familiar Supplies, Another Card

The kangaroos (Lawn Fawn’s Kanga-rrific), grassy border (Lawn Fawn’s Grassy Border), and blended sky have appeared on a few recent cards, and I’m still enjoying working with them. Using the same stamps and dies again doesn’t feel boring. I feel that it can actually take some of the (self-imposed) pressure off. I already know what works, which means I can focus on putting the card together rather than figuring everything out from scratch. I also added in the Cake it Easy Add-On stamp set from Lawn Fawn to create this card.

The softly blended sky, created using Sunflower ink (Lawn Fawn) along with Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves inks (Distress Inks), has been a bit of a favourite lately. It’s quick to create and gives the scene a finished look without much effort. I also used the Giant Hooray sentiment (Lawn Fawn) again, this time cutting it from patterned paper in my stash (Hey Cupcake from Doodlebug Design) instead of cardstock.

Leaving supplies out and making more than one card, but changing up the design in a small way, has been a helpful reminder that you don’t need a brand-new idea every time you sit down to create. Sometimes, using what’s right in front of you is more than enough.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope you all have an amazing day!
