Turning 50 Deserves a HOORAY (Mailing Optional)

by Kylie

Hi everyone! Today, I am sharing a card made for my sweet cousin’s 50th birthday back in mid-January. The card itself was made in time for her special day… but did I mail it on time? Umm, no, I didn’t. Has it been posted yet? Well, not yet — but you can’t rush these things, right?

For a milestone birthday like a 50th, I wanted something fun and playful. Enter the Giant Hooray! (again), because if ever there was a birthday that deserved shouting about, this was it. This time, I die-cut it from beautiful Glitter Paper from Spellbinders and matted it, offset, on some cardstock which I sponged with Freshly Cut Grass ink (Lawn Fawn). This tied in with the die-cut grass I used at the bottom of my design.

Big Letters, Tiny Friends

As much as I love the bright, sparkly sentiment, it’s the cute, tiny birthday friends that really lift the design. They’re from the Tiny Birthday Friends stamp set from Lawn Fawn. They are all so cute! I scattered them across the letters so they look like they’re part of the celebration. I could have tucked them behind the letters, but I really wanted them to be seen. The sentiment comes from the Yappy Birthday stamp set, also from Lawn Fawn.

Here’s the card…

You can’t quite tell from the photo (it’s a little washed out), but I also very lightly sponged some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink behind the greeting. I probably should have gone a touch darker…next time!

So yes, the card is late, but the making of it was fun, her birthday was celebrated on the day, and the HOORAY still stands. And honestly, if you can’t be a little late when you’re crafting for family, when can you? Lisa, if you see this, I will get it in the mail this week… I hope! Love you!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope you all have an amazing day!
