Happy Birthday (Charming Duck Pond)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, when the new Stampin’ Up!® catalogue was released the first thing I purchased was the Charming Duck Pond bundle and coordinating Designer Series Paper. Unfortunately, I had no clue about what to create with it. Usually, before buying anything, I try to have a few designs in mind so I know I will get my money’s worth. Thankfully, there are super cute samples in the new catalogue so I decided to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) one.

I started by creating a card base from Thick Basic White cardstock and then added a piece of patterned paper from the Lily Pond Lane 6×6 Designer Series Paper pack. I trimmed a different piece to place on top. Next, I cut a white panel which I stamped with the “Happy Birthday” stamp. This stamp is not stacked as I needed it to be so I masked off one word, inked it then stamped before cleaning and repeating the process with the other word.

I stamped the larger duck twice and the duckling once with Memento ink. I then coloured them in based on the sample and suite colours. Next, these pieces were die-cut and I die-cut the reeds, lily pads and flowers at the same time. The final step was to assemble all the pieces, add some Wink of Stella to the ducks and the greeting, and some pearls to the flowers.

Here’s the card…

If I were to make this card again I think it would be nice to lightly sponge some blue ink over the white panel so it doesn’t look so stark white. Or maybe it just needs a larger sentiment? What do you think?

Have you purchased this suite? Isn’t it darling?!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie
