Creating a fun Birthday Card with Lawn Fawn (Wild for You)

by Kylie

Hi everyone! Birthdays are the perfect occasion to create something bright, cheerful, and fun! Today, I’m sharing a playful birthday card. It features adorable critters from Lawn Fawn’s Wild for You stamp set. I love all the cute critters Lawn Fawn has in their range. I also love how they all work together too. Oh, and this card also features a really pretty, and vibrant ink-blended background, which makes me so happy.

Creating the Card Base and Background

The card base was made from Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock. I layered a piece of patterned paper from the Doodlebug Design paper pack, Hey Cupcake! It’s such a bright and happy paper pack.

Next I moved on to setting the scene. I started by ink-blending Freshly Cut Grass ink along the bottom of some white cardstock before die-cutting it with the Cactus Hillside Border dies from Lawn Fawn. On a separate sheet of cardstock I sponged some Sunflower ink from Lawn Fawn. Then I placed the Draped Ribbons stencil on top. I applied a second layer of Sunflower ink to achieve a two-tone effect. This simple technique adds depth and interest. I thought it made the base look like sunshine and would make a difference from my normal blue sky. I layered the grass panel along the bottom and then used a Stitched Rectangle die from the Blueprints 20 die set from My Favorite Things.

Stamping, Colouring and Cutting the Elements

Next, I stamped the multiple images of the elephant, giraffe, and lion from the Lawn Fawn Wild For You stamp set. I recommend stamping quite a few images of each so you can play around with colour combinations and placement on the card. You can use any leftover pieces on other cards. After die-cutting them, I gave each critter a party hat to match the birthday theme. I also stamped, coloured, and die-cut the presents from Kanga-rrific (Lawn Fawn) to add to the scene.

The speech bubbles from All the Speech Bubbles (Lawn Fawn) provided the perfect finishing touch. The sentiments bring the party atmosphere to life.

Assembling the Card

One I had all the pieces cut and coloured, I was ready to assemble the card. I adhered the critters onto the background using Stampin’ Dimensionals for dimension. The speech bubbles were positioned above each animal to create a fun look. Finally, I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment “Have a WILD Birthday” in white to tie everything together. Of course I had to add some Wink of Stella but this time restrained myself and only added it to the presents and party hats.

Here’s the card…

This card was so much fun to create! The combination of bright colours and adorable critters makes it a perfect choice for any birthday celebration. I hope this inspires you to get crafty and make something wild for someone special! I am off to make a few more with all my leftover pieces!
