Hi everyone, as we come to the end of the Buy 3, Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper sale I thought I’d share another card featuring paper included in this sale. The Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper is great for masculine cards and scrapbook layouts. I love that it is part of a suite too so everything from coordinating stamps, dies, twine and embellishments are available. I love how everything matches so well.
The card itself is pretty easy to make. I simply layered some of the Come Sail Away paper and cardstock. I used vellum for the circle in the background as I wanted the patterned paper to show through a little bit.
While writing this post I started thinking about how awesome it is that we can be as creative as we like when we make our cards. We are limited only by our imagination. Years ago I was teaching kindergarten and I had been away for the day as I was sick. When I returned to work one of the parents said to me her child had come home the day before all upset because the relief teacher had told her that her elephant couldn’t be purple. I remember saying, “when else can an elephant be purple if not in kindergarten?” The truth is we can, as creative people, do whatever we like when we make our cards. What prompted this thought is that the green plant is obviously not the right scale when compared with the lighthouse. It does, however, work! If I had been a stickler for making everything look “real” then I wouldn’t have used the two pieces together. I think the card looks good!
I really want to encourage you to play and explore. Do what feels right for you!
Here’s the Card…
