Hi everyone, often when a new catalogue is released, or about to be released, our team comes together to create cards to swap. It’s so fun! It’s a way to share ideas, maybe learn some new techniques, and actually use new products! This month we are creating swap cards featuring items from the upcoming July to December 2022 Mini Catalogue. For my card, I’m using the new Perched In A Tree bundle. The stamp set, Perched In A Tree, features a super cute bird, branch, a couple of texture stamps and some sweet sentiments. The die set, Aspen Tree, has dies that cut out some of the images. It also includes some leaf dies and an amazing background die.
I started by creating a card base out of Thick Basic White cardstock. I then cut a panel of the regular Basic White cardstock to a size about 1cm smaller than the card base. I used the background die from the Aspen Tree die set to cut out this panel. I added a hint of colour with a Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend marker and some Gray Granite ink.
With a Blending Brush, I added Balmy Blue ink directly to my card base. I then added the die-cut piece directly on top of the card base. You could pop it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals if you wanted to.
I stamped the branch and the bird on Basic White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured in the images with Gray Granite, Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. Using a textured rag I pounced some Isopropyl Alcohol over the top of the bird to give a little more interest. I so love this technique! I also added Wink of Stella to the bird to give it a bit of shimmer.
The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on Gray Granite cardstock. I then white heat-embossed it before die-cutting it with a Stitched Rectangle die.
Next, I adhered all of the pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a bow of white Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot to the sentiment panel. Finally, I added some pearls to finish off the card.
Here’s the card…
This card design had been in my head as soon as I saw the bundle in the July to December 2022 Mini Catalogue. I love how it turned out. The only thing I might have done differently is pop up the die-cut tree element. That could look so good! Anyway, I hope you like my card, and I hope the rest of the team does too.
Aside from the preview products which won’t be available until 1 July 2022, the rest of the supplies used to make my card can be found in my online store.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
