Hi everyone, one of the first things to make it onto my, albeit long, wish list was the Elephant Parade bundle. The set features three super cute elephants, sweet sayings and other icons to help you create cute cards for so many different occasions.
I couldn’t wait to start using this stamp set. I stamped all the images I wanted to include on my card on Basic White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. They were then coloured with Stampin’ Blends. To give the elephant a little more interest I dipped a textured rag into some Isopropyl Alcohol and then dabbed it onto the elephant. I love this technique and it creates such interesting effects.
Once the images were coloured, I die cut them using the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine. I also die cut some grass out of Granny Apple Green cardstock. I wanted to create a little scene for the pieces so cut a square of Basic White cardstock using the new Stylish Shapes die set. This is such a good basics die set. I can see it getting a lot of use! Using a Blending Brush I added a light coat of Pool Party ink to create the look of a sky.
(TIP: To add a little more interest to this sky piece, die-cut the cloud edge from the Basic Borders die set. Use this as a template and sponge ink over the top.)
It was at this point when making my card I realised I had coloured the whole background blue and didn’t allow any space for grass. All I did to remedy this was to tear a strip of Granny Apple Green cardstock and then die cut it with the same Stylish Shapes die. This fitted over the background perfectly! The sentiment, from the Elephant Parade stamp set, was stamped in Versamark on Polished Pink cardstock and then white heat embossed.
Once all the elements were ready it was time to assemble the card. The card base was created out of Granny Apple Green cardstock and a piece of patterned paper from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper pack was layered on top. Next, I popped up my scene with Stampin’ Dimensionals and layered all the pieces on top. I added some Wink of Stella to most of the coloured pieces and the grass. I added the sentiment to the side of the panel and the card was complete.
Here’s the card…
