Hi, the Penguin Place bundle is so fabulous that once you start creating with it, you are going to want to keep creating with it. This is awesome because you *should* want to use your stamps over and over and over again. What I love most about the Penguin Place bundle is that you can use it for a variety of different occasions, not just Christmas. I’ve previously shared a couple of love cards using this bundle. You can see them here and here. Today, I’m going to share a friendship card that I think would be good to give to a male friend as it has a more masculine feel (even with the abundant use of Fresh Freesia).
To create the card, you will need the Penguin Place stamp set, Penguin Builder Punch (the stamp set and punch are available as a bundle for a 10% discount), the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper (which could be yours for free with a qualifying order during Sale-A-Bration) and the Seascape stamp set.
Start by making a card base from Misty Moonlight cardstock. Add a panel of patterned paper from the Penguin Playmates Designer Series Paper pack. Add another strip of paper from this pack across the middle of the card.
Next, we are going to do all the stamping. I cut a panel of Basic White cardstock to 7cm x 7cm. I used my Blending Brushes to apply a very soft covering of Misty Moonlight ink to this panel before stamping the snowflakes on the top with Versamark ink. This was then white heat embossed. I then cut another strip of Basic White cardstock to 7cm in width and tore a couple of strips to make my snowbanks. Originally I had thought of drawing an iced-over pond with a little hole for fishing – this would be so fun! In the end, I thought the snowbanks would be sufficient and this created the scene for my penguin. I matted this panel on a small square of Misty Moonlight cardstock.
To create the penguin, stamp the body in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I also stamped the balloon string at this time. I inked up the balloon string a second time excluding the loose string at the top. I then stamped it again very close to the original stamped image as I wanted it to be a bit thicker like it might have been a fishing pole. With the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker, I then added another line to represent a fishing line. The feet and beak were stamped in Mango Melody. Fresh Freesia was the colour chosen for the hat and scarf and I used Just Jade for the fish. The fish come from the Seascape stamp set. I did toy with the idea of adapting the Bow Tie in the Penguin Place stamp set to create the fish but decided against it.
Once it was all stamped, I used the Penguin Builder Punch to punch out the penguin parts and then fussy cut the rest.
The sentiment was white heat embossed on Misty Moonlight cardstock and then trimmed into a strip. I cut apart the words where I thought they would look best. In hindsight, and I only just realised looking at the card now, I should have trimmed the start and the end of the strip closer to the letters so that it would tie in better. Oh well!
The last step was to assemble everything and add a little shimmer on the hat, scarf and snowbanks with Wink of Stella.
Here’s the card…
I’ve been having such fun creating with these fabulous products. I love the versatility. I hope you’ll give it a go too! I think you are going to love it as much as I do.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
