Happy Birthday (Layers Of Beauty / Charming Duck Pond)

by Kylie

Hi everyone, I love cardmaking and scrapbooking and can lose hours to it so it took me by surprise that I haven’t done either in a long time. Nothing seemed to inspire me and anything I tried to create looked…well, terrible! I have an increasing number of cards to make so I just had to sit down and try to make SOMETHING. I decided to use new products from Stampin’ Up!® (Layers of Beauty Bundle and Charming Duck Pond stamp set), and some old, retired products. I also decided to create a card design I have made many times.

I started by stamping the large floral image from the Layers of Beauty stamp set. While the bundle does come with Stencils to assist with colouring, I decided to colour the image using Stampin’ Blends. I do love to colour! I used Granny Apple Green for the leaves, Daffodil Delight for the centres of the flowers, and Peach Pie for the petals. Next, I die-cut the image and put it aside.

After cleaning the stamp, I re-inked it using Granny Apple Green ink and stamped it randomly on the front of a Granny Apple Green card base. Next, I die-cut a piece of Vellum using the Scalloped Contours dies. I then adhered this directly to my card front and then popped up the main focal image using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used the “Happy Birthday” stamp from the Charming Duck Pond stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark on Basic Black cardstock before white heat embossing with the Lawn Fawn White Embossing Powder. I trimmed it to size before adhering it to the card front.

To finish the card, I add some clear Wink of Stella and some bling. I may have gone a little overboard with the rhinestones but I just couldn’t help it! With that, my card was complete!

Here’s the card…

If you are struggling with your creativity, please know you are not alone. Perhaps find a card design that you love and try recreating it. If you still have the same supplies, maybe re-create it exactly. If you don’t, grab some similar supplies and try. Hopefully, muscle memory kicks in and before you know it you will have actually made something! Repeat as necessary – that’s what I am going to do!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping, Kylie
