Hi everyone! I’ve been having so much fun creating with the I Like Big Butterflies set, and the Big Blossoms Backdrop: Portrait die set, both from Lawn Fawn. Seriously, Lawn Fawn can do no wrong. I love all of their products and how well they work together! I needed to make some birthday cards, and as this set doesn’t have a birthday sentiment, I decided to use the Cake It Easy Add-On stamp set, which does include a “Happy Birthday!” sentiment.
Creating the card…
When creating cards with critters, I like to stamp, colour, and die-cut a lot of extra pieces so I can play around with placements. Of course, I can always use the extra pieces to make additional cards, too. I wasn’t sure which colours to use for the butterflies, so I used the colours shown in the Intro video by Lawn Fawn.
I then die-cut the Big Blossoms Backdrop die in white cardstock. I die-cut extra petals so I could layer them to add some more fullness. I used Cotton Candy (Catherine Pooler), Sunflower, and Freshly Cut Grass (Lawn Fawn) to colour the dies. These were then adhered to a card base, which had been inked with Mermaid ink (Lawn Fawn). I also used the Stratus Cloud Stencil from Lawn Fawn to add a little bit of extra interest.
I stamped the sentiment, from the Cake It Easy Add-On stamp set, with Versafine: Onyx Black ink on white cardstock, which I had also softly inked with Cotton Candy ink by Catherine Pooler. I die-cut this sentiment using the Die-namics Blueprints 20 from My Favorite Things. This is a very old die set, and I don’t think you can get it anymore.
I finished the card with some Wink of Stella on the butterflies and flowers, along with some pearls by Stampin’ Up!®.

This card was such fun to make, and I cannot tell you how much I love the Big Blossom Backdrop: Portrait die. I think the Landscape version would be fun to create with, too.
