Fun kids birthday cards with the Stellar Birthday stamp set

Happy World Cardmaking Day! YAY! Today, I’m sharing a couple of cards that might be fun for the child in your life. The cards feature the super cute Stellar Birthday stamp set. This set has some cool designs – boy, girl and dog astronauts, a rocket, planets, stars, as well as some great sentiments.

I decided to make two cards – one with a boy as the main character and one with the girl. They are otherwise identical.

To start, I stamped all my elements (from the Stellar Birthday stamp set) onto some Basic White cardstock. I then coloured in the characters with Stampin’ Blends before fussy cutting them out. Die-cut the sentiment with a die from the Tasteful Labels die set.

For the card base, I used thick Basic White cardstock which I then embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. It creates a really interesting texture.

Next up, I smooshed Misty Moonlight ink on some Basic White cardstock. I then sponged on some Night of Navy ink. It doesn’t have to be too perfect as you want the sky to have some interest. In fact, the next step is to drip some water on your inked up background. The water droplets add even more interest. Make sure this layer is completely dry before proceeding to the next step. Once it is dry, swipe an Embossing Buddy or Powder Tool over the surface (hopefully, you still have one) before stamping the stars and planets in Versamark ink. White heat emboss these images. They pop against the dark blue of the sky. Love it!

I then trimmed some Silver Foil and added it to the top and bottom of my sky panel. I also die cut some stars using the Messages die. All that is left to do is to adhere all the parts together. Did someone say Wink of Stella? Of course! I added some to the astronauts, the dog and the planets.
