Hi everyone! Happy Good Friday to you all! I’ve been running late for most occasions this year, but I was determined not to be late with Mother’s Day cards! I recently purchased Lawn Fawn’s Swan Soiree stamp set (as it is so cute) and thought it would make the sweetest Mother’s Day card.
I decided to create a card with a mother swan surrounded by her cygnets on the water, partially hidden by the cattails. The water stamp provided in the set didn’t have quite the area I required, so I turned to the Layering Diorama dies from Stampin’ Up!® for this purpose. I love the irregular shape of these dies and think they add a lot of character. I coloured the smaller shape with Tumbled Glass Distress ink, and layered it on the larger piece, which had been coloured with Lawn Fawn Freshly Cut Grass ink. Oh, I wish we could still get this ink in Australia, as I love it! I have now used up all the ink in the small cube I had.
I used the same Freshly Cut Grass ink to colour my card base and then used the Grassy Hillside Stencils to add more interest.
I stamped and coloured a lot of the pieces from the Swan Soiree set before die-cutting them. The hearts came from the Winter Village stamp set, also from Lawn Fawn. These days, I always stamp heaps of images because I want the flexibility it offers. I positioned the pieces in place. Some were adhered directly to the card, and others were popped up with Altenew Instant Dimension Foam Tape (which I love).
For this card, I added the stamped sentiment on a piece of cardstock coloured with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. I finished the card with some Wink of Stella for that sweet shimmer.

I wish you could see just how cute this card is in reality. The green is such a lovely shade too. I really hope my Mum loves it. I just need to remember to post it so it arrives in time!!
