Hi everyone, unfortunately, we all need to make Sympathy cards and they are always my least favourite card to make. I do try and have some in my stash because I hate making them when I actually need them. When looking at the Calming Camellia stamp set I noticed, aside from the beautiful imagery, that it had a lovely sentiment ‘You’re In My Thoughts Today’ and I thought that was perfect for a sympathy card. The set has a number of other greetings too such as ‘Lovely You’, ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘You Make Me Smile’, ‘It’s the Little Things that make Life Great’ and ‘I Love Being Your Friend’.
I started by creating a card base from Smoky Slate cardstock and then repeatedly stamped the main floral image from the Calming Camellia over the front in Smoky Slate ink. I then stamped this same image in Highland Heather on a piece of Basic White cardstock and trimmed it to size. I really wasn’t sure which way to go next until I spied a packet of the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper. This is a Sale-A-Bration item that could be yours for free with a qualifying order. I picked out the Highland Heather paper and cut it into a couple of strips (approximately 4cm x 9.5cm). These were then layered directly onto the card base, I popped up the main panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added this to the card front.
For the sentiment, I stamped it in Versamark, white heat embossed it on Smoky Slate cardstock before die-cutting it out using the Picture This die set. I thought it needed something else, so I cut a length of Silver Simply Elegant Trim and pulled it apart. I layered this under the sentiment and then popped it up on the card. The final touch was to add some pearls from the Pastel Pearls pack.
As this was such a quick and easy card to make, I then repeated the process but this time I used Balmy Blue.

They were such quick and easy cards to make. Truthfully, the hardest part of this card was trying to unravel the Silver Simply Elegant Trim. That took me way too long! I think these cards would look lovely with the leaf image from the Calming Camellia stamp set stamped over the card base instead of the larger flower image. Of course, you could also make other coloured cards and switch out the sentiments too. So versatile!
