Hi everyone, today I wanted to walk down memory lane and create a card in a style which I *love* and which I used to make all the time. I love it so much because it is easy, works with so many different styles of stamp designs, looks good in so many different colour combinations and you can use it for different occasions as well. Let’s get started…
Ink the largest floral image from the Cottage Rose stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamp it repeatedly over a panel of Basic White cardstock. Colour the images in with your choice of colouring medium. I chose Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends. I also used the Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker. Once finished, I trimmed 5mm from the top and side (hang on to these pieces as you can use them to decorate the inside of your card), and then added it to a card base of Blushing Bride cardstock.
For the sentiment, I chose the ‘Best Wishes’ stamp from the Cottage Rose stamp set. I inked this up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it on Basic White cardstock. This was die cut using a label die from the All That die set. You could leave the card like this but I decided to add a couple more elements.
I die cut the flower image from the Cottage Flowers die set in both Basic White and Blushing Bride cardstock. I used Adhesive Sheets on both before die-cutting. This made it easier to layer the pieces at the end. I positioned this die-cut piece on the sentiment. It’s so pretty!
I added some Wink of Stella and a few pearls to finish off the card.
Here’s the card…
I really do love making this style of card and playing around with the colours. What colours would you choose?
Another idea for this is that you could make up a heap of backgrounds and just add the sentiments when you know what occasion you need a card for. So cool!
