An Almost Valentine – A Cute Valentine’s Day Card

by Kylie

Hi everyone! As soon as I saw the Stampin’ Up!® stamp and die bundle Valentine Kisses, it was in my shopping cart. It is so cute! The card I am sharing today, made with this bundle, was originally going to be Al’s Valentine’s Day card. I liked the concept, but by the end, it felt too busy, and a new idea came in and took its place. Despite not being the card for Al, it is still a cute card.

Cute Bears Steal the Show

The stars of this card are definitely the bears, and paired with the kissing booth, they’re just adorable. I stamped and coloured the bears with Copic Markers before die-cutting them, then die-cut the remaining elements and added colour where needed.

I really wanted to create a cute little scene. Not long before making this card, I had purchased the Cobblestone Stencil from Lawn Fawn and thought it would work perfectly as the ground. For the background, I chose a black polka dot-patterned paper from the now-retired Hello, Love paper pad by Crate Paper. As the card started to feel a bit dark, I added some vellum to soften everything slightly.

The sentiment was white heat-embossed on black cardstock and trimmed to size. Once everything was assembled, I added a touch of Wink of Stella for a little extra shimmer.

Here’s the card…

Here’s the inside of the card…

For the inside of this card, I kept it fairly clean and simple, with the subtle Cobblestone path along the bottom, the sentiment stamped directly onto the panel, and another cute bear holding a heart. So sweet! It ties in nicely with the front and still leaves plenty of room to write a personal message.

Even though this wasn’t the card that I am going to give to Al, I’m still happy with it. It’s a great reminder that not every project has to be “the final choice” and that it can be a stepping stone to creating something else, something you may like more.

If you’re creating Valentine’s cards this year, don’t be afraid to play, experiment, and even change your mind halfway through. Every version teaches you something new.

Hope you have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
