Hi, one of my favourites of the Sale-A-Bration offerings is the Delicate Dahlias stamp set. It is one of those stamp sets which is so versatile in how you can use it as it is a two-step stamp step. The stamp set features both lined images and solid images and they work well together and separately. I have used them together for today’s cards. This card also requires masking.
Have you done masking before? It’s actually quite simple but there are a couple of tips that make the process a little easier. To start with, stamp the lined dahlia image on two Post-It Notes. (You might only need one but I used two, and I like to do this process at the start rather than have to stop what I am doing and make another one). I like to use the Full Stick Notes from Officeworks as they don’t move when you stick them on your project. Use your Paper Snips and cut out the images. Try to cut on the inside of the black line. If you cut on the outside you might end up with a “halo” effect which means you will see white space between the different stamped images. The next thing to remember is that the item you want to be at the front of your design is the one you stamp first.
Start by stamping the dahlia image on your Basic White cardstock panel and add your Post-It Note mask over the top to protect it. Stamp more of the dahlias where you want them. Add another mask if you are at risk of stamping over another design. Once you have stamped all your dahlias, stamp the leaves. Reposition the masks as necessary. When all the outline stamping has been done, it is now time to add the colour. I’m using the solid stamps from the Delicate Dahlias stamp set but you could colour with your preferred colouring medium. I chose to use Polished Pink and Granny Apple Green for the first card. For the second card, I included Melon Mambo to add a little more interest. Move the masks around as you need to so you keep the ink from going in the wrong spot.
After finishing the colouring I used Versamark Ink to stamp the sentiment on Basic Black cardstock. I white heat embossed the sentiment before cutting it out with the Messages die set. This is fast becoming one of my favourite dies to have close by when I create as it can cut out sentiments of so many different sizes and shapes.
All that was left was to assemble the card. I trimmed the decorative panel down and layered it on Basic Black cardstock. This was then popped up on a Thick Basic White cardstock base. The sentiments were also popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The final touch was to add a light layer of Wink of Stella to the dahlias and scatter some Matte Black Dots to add some interest.
