Hi everyone, today’s card is not my favourite card ever – let’s just put that out there. You may be wondering why I am sharing it with you when I really don’t think it is that great? There’s a couple of reasons why. Firstly, I want to remind you that not everything you make will be awesome in your eyes. It might, however, be awesome in the eyes of the recipient. Secondly, this card was CASEd and the original is AMAZING! I tried to copy it exactly but didn’t have the same supplies. Thirdly, this card does actually have a couple of cool features.
Let’s take a closer look. I used the Sailing Home stamp set and coordinating Smooth Sailing die set. It’s fun for masculine cards. This card is smaller than my usual at 10cm x 9.5cm. When you create the same size all the time, it can be a little challenging when you try other sizes.
The card sample used the awesome Embossing Paste but I didn’t have any. So, I thought what I could do was sponge through the Pattern Party Decorative Mask with Whisper White ink. Sounds good in principle. In reality, the white blended with the sky I had sponged (in Pacific Point) and as a result, I have the appearance of greenish clouds. It’s not a disaster but it isn’t ideal. It might have been better had I used white embossing powder over the top but at the time this didn’t cross my mind.
You might note I have three boats and two are going one way and one the other, it is really easy to do this. You will need your silicone mat. Simple stamp the boat onto the Silicone Craft Sheet and then position your cardstock over the stamped image. Press firmly and cover the entire area. Be very careful not to move the paper or it will smudge. I then held the paper up to the light and positioned the die cut over it from behind so I could die cut in reverse. So easy, really!
It’s a bit hard to see in the photograph but I used a touch of white ink on some of the crests of water created by the High Seas 3D Embossing folder. This helps create a little extra interest.
Here’s the Card…
So, what’s next? I think it would be fun to try this card again but this time – do it in MY style! That’s what I would love to encourage you to do. CASE away – that’s fine (and as close to the original as you like), but then switch it up and do it YOUR way! You CAN do it!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
