Hi, one of the things I love most about stamping and cardmaking is colouring. I love stamping an image and then just colouring away. Sometimes I’ll stamp the image a couple of times and then play around with different colour combinations. Sometimes I will change a lot of the details and other times only a few. That’s how today’s cards came about. I finally got the Feels Like Home stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration promotion (which ends on 30th September 2021). I couldn’t wait to colour it!
I started by stamping the image twice on some Basic White cardstock as I knew I would be colouring at least two images in the one sitting. I picked out a heap of Stampin’ Blends and started colouring. You can see all the different colours used in the supply list below. If you need further clarification, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Once the colouring was completed, I added a little Wink of Stella to the door and the flowers. It gave the image such a delightful shimmer. I die cut the panels using a die from the Scalloped Contours set. I love this die as it gives such a nice finish – and there’s no need to do any additional matting.
Let’s look at each card more closely now…
Here’s the first card…
For this card, I matted a piece of Pear Pizzazz patterned paper on a Thick Basic White card base. I then took the natural colour of twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials pack. Instead of using it as it was, I split it and only used two strands. I then wrapped it around the card base and tied a bow. The sentiment was stamped and white heat embossed it on a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock. I then assembled the card. As the design was quite detailed, I decided to keep the card quite simple.
Here’s the second card…
For the second card, I thought it might be fun to continue the wall theme by using the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder as the base of the card. I used the Blending Brushes to add a little Smoky Slate ink to the bricks. I thought this would give it a little more interest. Next up, I tied some white Baker’s Twine around the card. I think it helps tie the stark white of the main focal panel to the grey of the Smoky Slate card base. The sentiment was white heat embossed on Pool Party to tie in with the colour of the door. All that was left was to assemble the card.
I had an absolute blast colouring these cards and I am so happy with how they turned out. Do you love to colour too? Which one of the above do you like the best?
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
