Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a card which is a little different from my usual style both in terms of design and colour combination used. I was on canva.com earlier and saw a fun template and was immediately inspired to create. Unfortunately, I cannot link to the exact template as I didn’t save it and couldn’t find it again.
I started this card by preparing a Very Vanilla cardstock base. I stamped the large sunflower and leaves from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set all over the background. I used Night of Navy for the sunflower and a combination of Pumpkin Pie and Granny Apple Green for the leaves.
The next step was to die cut the “Just want to say’ sentiment from the Floral Gallery die set. As I planned to pop this sentiment up I added the Foam Adhesive to the Pumpkin Pie cardstock before running it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I will often run it through a couple of times just to make sure it really cuts through. Don’t worry about the Foam Adhesive flattening as it does pop back up again.
I added the sentiment to a Night of Navy cardstock panel which I had matted on two sides with a small border of Pumpkin Pie cardstock. It was after I had attached the sentiment that I realised the Night of Navy cardstock needed something more. If I hadn’t already adhered the sentiment I could have run it through an embossing folder. In the end, I stamped the smaller sunflower stamp from the Celebrate Sunflowers set around the edges (in Night of Navy for that tone on tone look). If you forget to do this step first, then I’d recommend using some post-it tape to cover the Pumpkin Pie edge so as not to get ink on this border.
When it came time to add the sentiment, I white heat-embossed ‘Happy Birthday’ from the Art Gallery stamp set on a small piece of Granny Apple Green and trimmed it to size. The final touch was to add some Rhinestones. I think, if I was to re-create this card, I might use either the Artisty Bloom Adhesive-Backed Sequins or the Sequins for Everything sequins in an orange colour just to add a little bit more colour.
Here’s the card…
I keep looking at this card. It is so different from my usual style in so many ways. I’m challenging you today to step out of your comfort zone and try something a little different today.
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
