Hi everyone, on World Card Making Day this past Saturday (05 October), Stampin’ Up! set a challenge for all the Demonstrators to actually SEND the cards we make. You can see all the cards people are making and sending if you search #worldcardsendingweek. They also arranged for people to sign up to send to and receive a card from other Demonstrators. I signed up to participate. Today I am sharing two examples of the one card design that I am sending to my fellow Demonstrators.
To create my cards I have used the lovely Free As A Bird stamp set. I have really been enjoying colouring in the birds in this set. I started out with the card design below.
Here’s the Card…
So then I thought I’d love to make a few more cards like this. I stamped, coloured and die cut out multiples of the birds and then I went to my paper bin to grab cardstock to make the card bases. Lo and behold – I’m OUT of Rococo Rose cardstock. Noooooo!!! Needless to say, I have now ordered some replacement cardstock.
Well, necessity is the mother of invention or in this case, flexibility so I grabbed a coloured cardstock which I thought would compliment my coloured panel. I’m so happy with how the Garden Green cardstock looks as the background. I love this green too. Okay, let’s be real, I love pretty much ALL of the colours offered by Stampin’ Up! 🙂
Here’s the Card...
Do you know what else might have looked really good? I think a really soft line of Pool Party around the image! It would have been a little more fiddly but I could have also masked the entire image and then sponged a very LIGHT layer of Pacific Point. Think I’ll have to add both of these to my to-try list.
I really hope the recipients love the card. I’ve mailed them out today because there’s no point making cards if you don’t send (or give them in person) to people. I think a handmade card can really brighten up someone’s day. It certainly brightens my day whenever I receive one.
I’d like to challenge you all to make a card AND send out a card this week. If you do, please let me know as I’ll notify Stampin’ Up! Together we will definitely reach their goal of sending 50,000 cards this week!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
