Hi everyone, let’s create a couple of cards featuring the Perfectly Pencilled Designer Series Paper. These cards feature the lovely Spotlight Technique. It’s such a simple idea but it creates a really effective card.
To create the card, select your patterned paper and cut it to size. Pay attention to the design on the paper as you want to be able to ‘spotlight’ a nice section. Once it is trimmed to size, position your die over the section you want to spotlight and die-cut it. I used the Stylish Shapes dies but you could use any shape you like. While die-cutting, also cut out a scalloped circle from Basic Black cardstock using the Layering Circles dies. Adhere the rest of the patterned paper directly to your card base.
Next, colour the die-cut piece. I used Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight (right card only) and Polished Pink Stampin’ Blends.
Once coloured, adhere this piece to your die-cut scalloped circles. At this point, you can either add Stampin’ Dimensionals and pop up the spotlight piece, as I did, or you can adhere it directly to the card. Either way will look great. When adhering this panel, make sure you match it up with the original panel because that really makes the piece pop!
To finish off the card, I stamped the ‘Thank You’ stamp from the Simply Fabulous stamp set in Versamark on Basic Black cardstock. After white heat-embossing it, I die-cut it using a banner die from the Stylish Shapes die set and added it to the card.
The final touches included adding some Wink of Stella to the petals, and scattering around a few of the Black Classic Matte Dots.
