Create a fun card for Valentine’s Day (Taco Fiesta/Inspired by…)

Hi everyone, Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you all have a lovely day! Although we don’t really do Valentine’s Day, I am a cardmaker so I cannot let the day go by without making a card to give to my Al. I had thought I was going to create a fairly traditional sort of Valentine’s Day card. Then I saw a card in our Demonstrator Planning Group on Facebook shared by Yvonne Spikmans featuring the Taco Fiesta stamp set. I loved it and knew I had to recreate it! Yvonne’s card is amazing – all her cards are!

I started by creating a card base from Thick Basic White cardstock. On a piece of regular Basic White cardstock, I repeatedly stamped the chilli making sure to switch up the direction as I covered the piece. I also stamped two of the large chilli’s and added cute faces. This set has five different faces to choose from which is fabulous as you can create real personalities.

After I had finished stamping, I coloured all the images with Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends. I fussy cut out the larger chillis. Then I added Wink of Stella to everything.

For the sentiment, I stamped in Versamark on Basic Black cardstock. After white heat-embossing, I trimmed this piece to size.

I assembled the card by adding Stampin’ Dimensionals to the stamped panel. I popped up both the chilli’s and the sentiment too. I tucked a black Twine bow under the sentiment and scattered a few Heart Pearls to the card.

I thought my card lacked the punch that Yvonne’s had so I also added some Shimmery Crystal Effects to the large chilli’s. This product has been retired but you could simply cover the entire image with Versamark and then add clear embossing powder. This will help create a similar type effect.

I really enjoyed this card and I am thankful there are so many talented designers willing to share their ideas so that when my mojo dries up I can still create amazing cards!
