Hi, so you all remembered it’s Father’s Day this weekend, right? If not, this is your reminder. I remembered in as much as I sorted out a gift for my Dad. That’s underway. The card though – I thought there’s plenty of time for that. Um, no! We need to get our cards in the mail ASAP if we are posting it (and even then, it probably won’t get there in time now). I grabbed my favourite masculine stamp set – A Good Man. I’ve used this for so many masculine cards including Father’s Day so it was natural to turn to it again.
I picked the darling image of the child sitting on the Dad’s shoulders. This is one image I had yet to try. I wanted it to look like a little girl with long hair so it was a little more reminiscent of me on my dad’s shoulders. After inking up the image I used a cotton tip to gently wipe off the ink around the child’s neckline. I used the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to add back anything I should have kept. After stamping the image, I used the same marker to draw a little ponytail. To colour the images I used primarily Stampin’ Blends although I did watercolour the child’s jeans with Pacific Point. I then added some Wink of Stella to all the clothing. After the image was coloured I die cut it out with a Stitched Rectangle die.
Next up, I stamped the sentiments in Versamark on Night of Navy cardstock then heat embossed it in white. I wanted to add the sentiment to the left side of the card so I trimmed it into pieces like it was a ransom note.
The card base was made with Night of Navy cardstock. I then added a panel of Night of Navy patterned paper from the Neutrals 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper Pack to the base. With the strip I cut off, I flipped this over and added it across the width of the card. Next, I tied some white Bakers Twine around the card and tied it in a bow. To give a little more interest, I separated the strands of the ends of the bow. I love this look. It’s so fun!
All that was left was to assemble the card. When I did that I thought it needed another little something so I die cut a small heart (from the Baby Clothes die set) and added it to the top of the greeting. To be honest, I’m not sure I love it in this location but…it’s stuck now!
Here’s the card…
The A Good Man stamp set is a fabulous one for masculine cards – Father’s Day, Birthdays, Just Because. It has some lovely sentiments and if you love to colour, you can easily colour the beautiful images in the set.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed this card arrives not too long after Father’s Day! I hope your Dad’s all have a fabulous day!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
